Location
Mamfe is a small town of 20,000 people in the South West of Cameroon at the border to Nigeria (see map). It is isolated from the rest of the country because of bad communication and transportation systems. Mamfe lies in the English speaking part of Cameroon (20% of the population) which is heavily neglected by the French speaking majority (80% of the population). Mamfe is the capital of the South-West Province and used to be a prosperous trading town. However, today Mamfe has been marginalized from the rest of Cameroon and most of its population lives of agriculture. The distress of the people is accordingly, especially among children. The location of Mamfe was consciously chosen for this reason. A positive sign should be set here for youth and their future.
